The Grow Pros Solutions AKHB is a high-bay LED grow Light engineered as a direct 1:1 replacement for legacy HPS systems, maintaining standard mounting heights, layouts, and power class while reducing overall electrical and thermal load. The Grow Pros Solutions AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light is engineered as a direct 1:1 replacement for legacy high-bay HPS grow lighting systems. The fixture is designed to exceed the performance of High Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures while reducing total system energy consumption and thermal load.

1:1 HPS Replacement Architecture

The AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light is designed to match the physical footprint, mounting height range, and power class of legacy high-bay HPS fixtures. This allows existing grow rooms to transition to LED while preserving room layout, fixture spacing, and electrical distribution assumptions used in HPS-based designs.

Optical Output and Efficiency Performance

Higher PPF at Reduced Wattage

The AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light delivers higher photosynthetic photon flux output per watt compared to traditional Double Ended HPS fixtures. At an operating power of 690W, the fixture exceeds the total PPF output of a typical 1000W DE HPS system, providing higher usable light levels at the canopy with reduced electrical input.

California Energy Efficiency Compliance

When configured to 690W or 840W from 1100W, the fixture meets the current California energy efficiency requirement of 3.24 PPE. These configurations qualify the AKHB for utility rebate programs within PG&E and SCE service territories, subject to utility approval.

Thermal Management and Passive Cooling Design

The AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light utilizes a fully passive cooling system with a die-cast aluminum heat sink. Thermal energy is directed upward and away from the plant canopy, rather than radiating downward as with HPS fixtures.

Impact on HVAC Load

The AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light lowers HVAC demand by reducing both total heat input and radiant heat at canopy level. Compared to legacy HPS systems, the fixture operates at lower wattage, directly decreasing the amount of heat introduced into the room, and its die-cast heat sink conducts thermal energy upward into the upper air volume instead of radiating infrared heat downward toward the plants. With less heat accumulating in the plant zone, canopy temperatures rise more slowly and HVAC systems can maintain environmental setpoints with reduced runtime, resulting in more stable temperature and humidity control across the grow space.

Mechanical Design and Form Factor

The fixture form factor supports greenhouse, mixed-light, and indoor sole-source cultivation environments. The system is available with three selectable wattage configurations: 690W, 840W, and 1100W, allowing output to be matched to canopy height, crop type, and electrical capacity.

Adjustable Side Bar Angle Control

Two independently adjustable side bars allow directional control of light distribution. By adjusting the bar angles, the fixture can be configured to either concentrate output or extend the lighting footprint across a wider canopy area. When operating at reduced mounting heights, the adjustable angles help equalize PPF across the canopy, minimize hot spots, and reduce localized intensity variance for sensitive or uneven crop structures.

Compliance, Certification, and Rebate Integration

The AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light is DLC and ETL listed and is designed to align with commercial utility rebate programs. Grow Pros Solutions provides support in coordinating with electric utilities to reduce the capital cost of retrofit or new construction projects.

Operational Lifetime and Maintenance Considerations

Unlike HPS systems, the AKHB High Bay LED Grow Light does not require routine bulb replacement, reflector cleaning, or ballast servicing. The solid-state LED architecture and passive cooling design eliminate common wear components, reducing failure points and ongoing maintenance labor. This simplifies long-term operation, improves fixture reliability, and minimizes downtime in commercial cultivation environments.
