Douglas Jacobs
Douglas Jacobs is a pioneer in precision agriculture and controlled environment cultivation.With 15+ years of hands-on experience across indoor, outdoor, greenhouse, vertical farming, and aquaponic systems, In 2011 he founded VertiFarms in New Orleans, built the city\’s first commercial aeroponic farm, and developed rooftop growing systems at Rouses Supermarket, demonstrating the viability of urban agriculture. Over the next 5 years Doug worked with 100’s of Urban Farmers and developed growing systems for SF Giants Stadium, Google, Microsoft, NASA Kennedy Center, US Space & Rocket Center, Orange County (Orlando) Convention Center and UC Boulder.
Starting in 2016 Doug worked as a trusted Technical Advisor for Grodan, one of the world largest hydroponic growing media manufacturers, and as a consultant for commercial cannabis operations throughout North America and Internationally. His expertise in crop steering, precision irrigation, and process optimization has helped hundreds of facilities dramatically improve yields while reducing input costs. Doug has advised some of the most renowned growers and the largest cannabis farms in world.
Over the years his practical insights appeared regularly in industry publications including Garden Culture Magazine, Cannabis Business Times, and Ed Rosenthal\’s cultivation guides. As a frequent speaker at industry conferences including Indo Expo and CannaCon, Doug translates complex agricultural science into actionable strategies for commercial growers.
